Senegal

In Senegal the production of rope pumps started in the mid nineties by the Non- governmental organization Geewu Jaakaar Ji.
The applied technology is partially comparable to the Nicaraguan technology. Differences can be found in the production of the pistons, the relative heavy wheel structure and the use of ball bearings.
Pistons are made by hand out of thick plastic/pvc with limited accuracy and thus limiting efficiency and the use at higher depth's. Guide box is of good quality.
Several dozens were produced for privates sector users and organizations.
A promotion video on the production and use of the rope pump was produced around 1998.
